About Me

ABOUT

I am a literary agent and the director of business affairs at LDLA, who is particularly drawn in by unique voices, strong character development, high-concept plots, and transporting experiences.  I mostly represent commercial fiction, romance, MG, YA, historical fiction, mysteries, thrillers, and narrative nonfiction.  I’m a sucker for anything about cults, witches, jewel heists, archaeology/ancient civilizations, royalty, psychology, or high-stakes revenge.  And I automatically get excited when I see a good smoldering romance, gripping mystery, clever prescriptive nonfiction, or anything set in a bakery (with lots of salivating descriptions!).

I have been passionate about books for as long as I can remember, but I first became interested in agenting after a college friend encouraged me to apply for a summer internship at Writers House.  I commuted back and forth from Connecticut three days a week, and knew that this was what I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing...minus the two-hour train rides.

Now I live in Sunnyside, Queens, and when not immersed in a good book, love shopping at the city's green markets, exploring new neighborhoods, designing gloriously color-coded spreadsheets, tackling DIY apartment decorating, and snuggling with my cats.

Fiction: Mystery/Crime

March 27, 2024

Rosiee Thor and Kat Hillis's THE DEAD & BREAKFAST, a cozy mystery about two queer vampires who open a small-town B and B and must prove their innocence when the local mayor shows up dead in their garden with something that looks suspiciously like puncture marks on his neck, to Michelle Vega at Berkley, in a good deal, in a pre-empt, in a two-book deal, by Saba Sulaiman at Talcott Notch Literary Services for Thor, and by Carrie Pestritto at Laura Dail Literary Agency for Hillis (world).

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

_ 3_edited.png

Please use QueryManager to send a submission to me.  You can read more about my specific interests there, as well.

Your query letter should include:

  • your name

  • your email

  • a short pitch

  • and a short plot summary

Also note previous submission or publishing history, if applicable.  If you are a debut author, do not worry.

After your query letter, paste the first chapter of your manuscript (or the entire proposal if nonfiction) into the body of the email.  I will not respond to queries emailed directly to me and I don't open unrequested attachments.

My (Average) Submission Timeline

Once I receive your query, if I am going to request pages, I usually do so by the 2 month mark.  When I receive a partial, it goes to my TBR pile and I try to respond with feedback in about 3-6 months.
